The Building Department has no jurisdiction over a contractor if the homeowner obtains the permit for his contractor. If a homeowner hires a contractor, the contractor should obtain the permit. The person that secures the permit is the person who is held responsible for the work that is done. One member is from the Planning Commission and one is a Township Trustee. The ZBA consists of five members and two alternates, who are appointed by the Township Board to serve a three year term and have the ability to understand or learn zoning ordinances. The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) serves as a quasi-judicial body which hears and decides matters relating to the application of the zoning ordinance such as a variance from an ordinance standard, an appeal of a zoning official's decision or an interpretation of the ordinance.
